Guillermo Cosarinsky defended his PhD on ultrasound imaging

Congratulations Guillermo Cosarinsky! for obtaining his PhD on autofocus un 3D ultrasound imaging, “Autoenfoque en imagen ultrasónica tridimensional”, a PhD advised by Jorge Camacho and Jorge Fernández Cruza at @ITEFI_CSIC.

About the thesis

The dissertation investigates novel methods for 3D ultrasound imaging. Ultrasonic inspection of components with complex shapes is a challenge that linear arrays are not able to solve satisfactorily. In this thesis, three-dimensional autofocusing methods with matrix arrays are proposed, which allow obtaining volumetric images of the interior of a component without prior knowledge of its geometry. The proposed methods can operate in real time, at 24 volumes per second!

The results were obtained on the framework of the project Autoenfoque en imagen ultrasónica tridimensional RTI2018-099118-A-I00 funded by Plan Estatal de Investigación Científica y Técnica y de Innovación 2017-2020, Programa Estatal de I+D+i Orientada a los Retos de la Sociedad (AEI).
